There are several techniques to create your European Mount. This is just the way I have always done it.
First you will need a game head. We will use the one on the right. This deer is mine and as you can see it is bigger than my brothers deer on the left. I have to point that out just in case he ever reads this.
The next step is to skin the head and cut off as much meat as you can. Try to do this soon after the kill. The longer you wait the harder it is to clean the skull. I also remove the eyes at this point. Be careful not to cut into the bone.
Now let the skull simmer in water with about a 1/4 cup of dish soap to soften up the remaining flesh and fat. keep the antlers out of the water and let it simmer for about 45 minutes.
Remove the skull from the water and remove the remaining flesh and fat. Alsot pull out the brain tissure. I like to use needle nose pliers for this part. You can repeat these steps if you are having trouble getting the skull cleaned.
I then let the skull dry out in the sun for one day. After drying I make a paste with Peroxide and magnesium carbonate. I coat the skull with the paste and let sit overnight. In the morning i rinse off the skull and repeat the drying and coating process. Be sure to read all the warnings on the peroxide and magnesium carbonate. This is the way I do it but like i said there are other ways to have it done.
